California’s Family Place Library Program

CSL is pleased to announce a new statewide initiative for young children, families, and caregivers.  Under the 2009-2010 California Family Place Library Program, public libraries will have a chance to apply for a competitive training grant that will allow up to 13 libraries to attend a Family Place Training Institute that will train librarians and administrators, and to then apply for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Implementation Grant, up to $15,000, to establish early childhood centers (toys, books, etc.) in local libraries.  Potential applicants are required to view a Family Place Webinar. The Training Application and Instruction Guide can be found on the State Library’s Website. Deadline for receipt of applications is Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 4:00 pm.  For additional program information, please contact Bessie Condos at (916) 651-0981 or bcondos@library.ca.gov.
