Library Ballot Measures on November 4, 2008 Ballot

In an effort to improve both the comprehensiveness and timeliness of reporting on the results of local library referenda, the California State Library is requesting that California public library directors inform Richard B. Hall, Library Facilities Consultant, of any local library ballot measures within their library jurisdiction that will be voted on by the electorate on the November 4, 2008 ballot.  This includes both special tax measures for library-only measures as well as general tax measures which have a library component.

The following information is being requested for each measure:

     Name of Library Jurisdiction

Name of Local Jurisdiction authorizing Ballot Measure

Indicate if ballot measure will impact the following: Operations, Facilities, Operations & Facilities, Other

Type of Tax, i.e., Parcel Tax, General Obligation Bond, Sales Tax, General Tax etc.

Brief description of what the ballot measure will do, or what will happen if it doesn’t pass, or anything else of
          particular significance regarding the measure.

Richard will follow up by telephone with those who respond shortly after the election to determine if the measure passed, as well as obtain the official “Yes” vote percentage.  This ballot measure information will be summarized on the CSL Blog shortly after the election.

Please contact Richard B. Hall at (916) 651-0973, or rhall@library.ca.gov, if you have any questions about this data collection effort.
