To draw California’s energetic and talented Baby Boomers and other generations to volunteer in California’s libraries, the California State Library (CSL) is launching a new initiative, “Get Involved: Powered by Your Library,” and is forming an Advisory Committee to help shape the program. It’s a timely and cutting-edge initiative that an Advisory Committee made up library directors, volunteer coordinators, volunteers, and paid library staff, will bring to life.
If you play one of these roles in a California library, consider joining the committee and lending a hand in building a statewide initiative. The time commitment is minimal. Plan on one full day face to face meeting (travel expenses will be covered), a couple of conference calls during the upcoming winter and spring, and perhaps a little “homework” between meetings.
The brief application – due August 15 – is on the website where the popular webcast, "Attracting Baby Boomers to Volunteer Service,” is archived: http://www.infopeople.org/training/webcasts/webcast_data/276/index.html
On that page you will find links to both the webcast, webinar (no video) and podcast versions of the broadcast, as well as webcast handouts and PowerPoint file.
