Fire burns Cathedral City Library, $2 million in damage

The Cathedral City Library, a branch of the Riverside County Library System, has suffered $2 million in damage from a fire that ripped through the building late Friday night.

The fire, the cause of which is being investigated, activated sprinklers inside the 20,000-square-foot building, ruining library materials.  The community room and the children’s room were spared.
