Genealogists are pouring into the California State Lbrary's Sutro Library in San Francisco to research their family trees during the library’s first-Saturday-of-the-month openings.
The first-Saturday openings started on November 3, 2007, with 21 researchers; on December 1, there were 33. Many of those who arrive for the 10 am opening stay until after 4pm.
While most of the genealogists have come from Bay Area counties, some have come from Sonoma, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Placer, and Monterey counties.
Many of the Saturday researchers have expressed their thanks to the staff for the Saturday opening, which provides people who work during the week a chance to pursue their genealogy research.
