California State Library to partner with PBS, Ken Burns, California libraries

State Librarian Susan Hildreth has announced the California State Library (CSL), through the California Center for the Book, will partner with PBS to promote The War,  a groundbreaking seven-part series on the Second World War.   The series, directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick,  premieres on PBS stations nationwide on September 23, 2007.

To assist libraries in building upon and extending this PBS series, the CSL will provide all California public library jurisdictions with a packet of materials similar to the Center's popular "book clubs in a box" in August 2007.

After the series, the CSL will host a National Issues Forum discussion and videoconference with Ken Burns.  Check back to the CSL Blog for more details about this special October event.

For additional information about The War, please contact Mary Menzel at the California Center for the Book at (310) 206-2464 or mmenzel@ucla.edu
